Cool For Cat

So, is that unmistakable Cat Deeley look all down to you?
Quite a lot of it is. I do work with the MTV and SMTV stylists though - certain things look great in real life but terrible on camera. But if I don't feel comfortable, it really affects the way I do my job. And if I'm photographed when I'm out, that's definitely me wearing my own clothes.

Where do you get most of your clothes from then?
All over. At the moment, Top Shop is rocking, so i get a few bits from there - and from Whistles, Browns and Selfridges. Chloe is lovely and you can never go wrong with a bit of Gucci but I hate that whole Gucci-from-head-to-toe thing, it's not big and it's not clever!

OK, you're off out to a showbiz party. What do you wear?
I tend to go for stuff that I don't have to worry about. There are more important things on my mind when I'm out than whether my boob tube is pulled up!

What piece of clothing could you just not do without?
Jeans - I've got them coming out of my ears. They're brilliant 'cos you can wear them whenever. I'm wearing jeans at the moment and later I'm going to the opening of a club so all I'll have to do is swap tops. Jeans witha pair of killer heels will take you anywhere!

What's your favourite fashion trend at the moment?
All the leather stuff. My friend made me a leather dress for the MTV awards and it was amazing. I was presenting an award as well! Because I felt good, I knew I could do it - it gives you confidence, wearing something you love.

Do you ever look at clothes and think: 'That's gorgeous, but I couldn't wear it'?
You know, there are some tricks of the trade. Say, for instance, I'm wearing a dress that's slit up to my thighs - I'll put on a bit of iridescent body lotion and my legs'll be fine. Or say I'm wearing something really low-cut, I'll stick a bit of toupee glue (yes, really!) on the inside and I won't fall out!

Do you ever say: 'Does my bum look good in this?'
No. There are certain bits of me that I really don't like, but I never say that. As long as you smile, have sparkly eyes and stick your shoulders back, nobody's going to notice your bum or your waist or your feet, for that matter.

Your hair looks amazing. Is it naturally straight?
No - it's big wavy hair. I straighten the hell out of it, like every day. If I just leave it, I have the biggest hair in the world - and that's official!

Finally, your skin. Do you ever get spots like the rest of us?
Do I ever! My skin went mad last summer. My dermatologist said: 'Your job's really stressful and you don't do any exercise. Hello...!' So now I work out, and I have a massage once a week - I feel so much better for it.
