Cat Deeley

Going secondhand shopping, partying with The All Saints... it's been a busy week for MTV VJ Cat Deeley

To say that my week has been hectic doesn't do my schedule justice. I co-wrote and recorded my regular show on MTV, Hit List UK, then I recorded the links for the Total Request Weekend. There was just time for a spot of secondhand shopping in Camden (I got a leather jacket and the pinkest, sparkliest, flounciest dress ever. Not sure where I'll wear it!) before I raced home to prepare dinner for some friends. I've just moved into a flat in Hampstead so I invited my good mates MTV presenters Edith Bowman and Charlie Brear round for the evening. There was plenty of gossip and excitement about our forthcoming holiday to Ibiza. Yep, I'm going to let Ant and Dec run riot for a month, whilst I sun myself in foreign climes... but I'll be back!

My two Geordie compadres and I appeared on Richard and Judy this week to chat about the success of SMTV and CD:UK. It's the first time I'd met the King and Queen of daytime TV, but they didn't disappoint. They were both lovely, and Richard was even more tanned in real life!

Do you ever wish you could be in two places at once? Well, I almost managed it on Thursday! I went to rehearsals, pinched Declan's boots (though they're a little bit small for my feet!), then jumped straight on a train to Manchester. I had a hot date that evening with...the Backstreet Boys!

It was their first UK gig, but they were so charming. They gave me my own private performance of I Want It That Way, took the mickey out of my accent and gave me the lowdown on their fans. There were big hugs and kisses all round, then I jumped back on the train to London.

It was a quick trip back down to earth for Friday afternoon rehearsals, then straight back up again and into the Versace party. Yep, Donatella had cordially invited Cat Deeley and guest - my friend Amanda - to her incredible showbiz bash.

I only went for an hour because I had to do the show the next day, but I saw lots of celebrities and friends. The All Saints put on a cracking performance in front of Posh Spice, David Beckham, Natalie Imbruglia, Rachel Weisz, Juliette Lewis, Yasmin Le Bon, Baby Spice, Denise Van Outen, Cerys Matthews and Saffron from Republica, amongst others.

I had a chat with Brian from Placebo over mini bottles of champagne with pink straws. Kavana looked tanned and handsome and told me about lots of new exciting projects. Jo Whiley had a quick gossip, and Bobak Kianoush from Another Level was telling me about his driving lessons and forthcoming test (good luck!)

Then, in true Cinderella style, I disappeared into the night to get some beauty sleep before my alarm clock rudely disturbed me - at 5am - to go to the studio.

The show went well, we all had a ball, then I had to rush back to my flat for another important date. Thursday it had been the Backstreet Boys; Friday the Versace party; and Saturday afternoon it was... the British Telecom man! Well, that's life. It can't all be glitz and glamour!
