Feline Groovy

Never before has the Birmingham accent sounded so beautiful as when it's coming out of the perfectly formed mouth of Cat Deeley.

The perky 23-year-old presenter is better than any Alka Seltzer when she teams up with Ant and Dec (whom she endearingly calls 'my boys') to career through three madcap hours on ITV's SM:tv LIVE on Saturday mornings.

The secret to Cat's success is that she looks like she's having a ball with the Geordie pair. Too many presenters try to feign chemistry with their co-hosts - the sure way to kill a show. Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen had buckets of the stuff on The Big Breakfast. Richard and Judy click. Chemistry is why SM:tv LIVE has gone from strength to strength with Cat, never too proud just to stand back, watch and laugh at Ant and Dec like the rest of us.

Just to prove that she really is the cat's whiskers she's got nine GCSEs and four A levels. But she still can't do up her trousers.
